From renowned musical theatre choreographer, Callum Mansfield, comes a quirky new live dance production where you control what happens next!
The show is a high energy, fast-paced blend of physical theatre, commedia del arte, mime and absurdism theatre with ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre dance.
Director Callum Mansfield says, “There is such a negative stigma associated with dance performances which is why we’re so excited to present something that is so heavily focussed on being entertaining while educating the audience. It’s not just dance for dance’ sake.”
With the merge of dance and theatre, this production will provide your students with an entertaining insight into a professional performance standard of styles.
The zany sixty minutes of dance theatrics is driven by the twist of literally handing over the control to the audience. Centred around an enigmatic suitcase and items chosen by the audience, the students are encouraged to be actively involved in choosing which direction the show goes!
Velocity Dance Company has produced DANCE DESIGN twice now, playing to sold-out audiences in 2009 and early 2010. The company is excited to be taking the production on tour into schools all over Queensland.
