THE C-GEN PROJECT is a Velocity Dance initiative designed to be a launchpad for emerging performers of the Creative GENeration (C-GEN) into the professional entertainment industry.

| WHAT DOES THE INITIATIVE OFFER? | |
Through THE C-GEN PROJECT, Velocity Dance will take emerging dancers under their banner to train them in the performance crew with workshops, weekly classes with choreographer Callum Mansfield and corporate employment.
The focal event of this training will be that of the Department of Education and Training’s performance of CREATIVE GENERATION and the SHOWCASE AWARDS associated with this production. All of these training components focus on developing the dancers as up and coming professional dance artists.

| WHO IS ALREADY TRAINING WITH VELOCITY DANCE? | |
In 2010, there are 15 young dancers training in the performance crew with Velocity Dance and an additional 55 interns training fulltime under Harvest Rain’s Internship Program with Callum Mansfield as their choreographer and instructor.
The Velocity Dance Crew are trained to develop a professional attitude to compliment their professional talent. This professionalism is then put into practice through the professional dance opportunities that Velocity Dance provides. The opportunities come in a range of varied events from corporate functions and concerts to fundraisers, festivals and gala dinners.

| THROUGH THE C-GEN PROJECT, VELOCITY DANCE IS COMMITTED TO... | |
• Equipping youth with a foundational platform for success with professional advice, personal guidance and frequent professional performance experience.
• Training and enhancing the talent and ability of Queenslanders by holding auditions every six months, and rehearsals and classes weekly.
• Building and nurturing the dance entertainment industry using dance for educational, artistic and social purposes to support economic growth.
Additionally, Velocity Dance is designed to;
• Be a launchpad for children and youth, providing a professional training environment for amateur to professional dancers.
• Provide an educational format to tuition by learning skills connected with the dance industry, including choreography, direction, acting, sound, lighting, wardrobe, design and management.
• Encourage a high standard of achievement by setting an attitude, behaviour, intelect and ability of professionalism as the benchmark regardless of the type of opportunities taken.
• Be tomorrow’s Queensland. Using the time now to lay the foundations and equip the youth of today for the opportunities of tomorrow.

| COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS... | |
I haven't recieved an invite, but I would like to apply to be a part of The C-Gen Project. Can I still apply?
You can! Keep in mind that the initiative aims to launch school aged dancers into the professional industry, so if you are not considering dancing professionally once you have finished school, your application might not be as successful as someone who was.
Do have to be in the current cast of CREATIVE GENERATION to apply?
It is preferred, but as long as you have been in a Creative Generation performance before or are intending to be in next years, then you are more than welcome to apply!
What age do you have to be to apply?
You will need to be between 14 - 18 years old. The program is designed to be relatively intensive, being a stepping stone from high school into the dance industry.
If you are 18+, you are welcome to audition for the professional entity of Velocity Dance, the Velocity Dance Crew.
If my application is successful, will there be a cost involved?
There are limited scholarships available (as provided by the Queensland Government), but if you miss out on a scholarship, there will be a fee for the weekly training classes - just like at any other institution.
